This position is part of the site Asset Reliability team, responsible for setting functional expectations and ensuring the reliability and integrity of all asset equipment. The team is empowered and expected to drive change through improvements to equipment, processes, and procedures, supporting operational excellence while maintaining high service levels within allocated resources.
The Equipment Asset Engineer role is approximately 70% strategic and 30% tactical, with a primary focus on data-driven reliability improvement and risk mitigation.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyze asset and equipment data to identify reliability risks and develop predictive and preventative reliability strategies
- Identify and escalate reliability issues to the Plant/Process Action Team (PAT) for resolution
- Leverage, modify, and develop reliability programs to meet evolving business needs
- Partner closely with Operations Asset and Maintenance Supervisors to support urgent equipment evaluations
- Lead Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA), including cause mapping
- Troubleshoot and resolve seal, pump, and rotating equipment issues
- Execute and support Management of Change (MOC) processes, serving as Responsible Engineer or MOC Manager as required
- Develop, track, and maintain KPIs focused on equipment reliability and performance
- Identify equipment “bad actors” using metrics and implement remediation plans using FMEA, RCFA, PM optimization, and other reliability tools
- Lead investigations into equipment failures and provide corrective recommendations to Maintenance
- Maintain and utilize the Maintenance Operating Envelope to proactively prevent failures
- Complete and report monthly reliability summaries and performance reports
- Complete assigned compliance action items and required monthly audits
Outage & Project Support
- Own and develop asset outage scope and act as Scope Owner during outage execution
- Support routine maintenance scope development for assigned assets
- Specify equipment upgrades and execute small capital and expense projects
- Collaborate with Project Engineering to ensure reliability and maintainability of new or modified installations, including design reviews and commissioning plans
- Participate in and/or observe Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) and critical supplier or repair facility inspections
- Provide input into process plans supporting optimization and operational improvement initiatives
Work Environment & Physical Requirements
- Regularly work around and on industrial equipment in a safety-sensitive environment
- Frequent climbing of stairs and ladders
- Combination of field-based and office-based work, including repetitive hand use
- Ability to walk, stand, and travel by car or other means as required
- Exposure to large rotating equipment and hazardous chemicals
