Position Overview
We are looking for an AWS Database Architect to support the design, administration, and ongoing improvement of cloud-based database and infrastructure environments. This role will work closely with technical teams to maintain reliable AWS services, support application needs, and help ensure cloud resources meet performance, security, and availability expectations. The ideal candidate will have hands-on AWS experience, foundational database knowledge, and an interest in developing deeper expertise in cloud architecture and database technologies.
Key Responsibilities
- Cloud & Database Operations: Support the administration and ongoing maintenance of AWS-based infrastructure and database environments.
- Environment Management: Assist with the configuration, deployment, and day-to-day operation of cloud resources supporting business applications.
- Performance & Reliability: Monitor AWS resources and database environments, identify potential issues, and assist with performance and availability improvements.
- Database Support: Help maintain cloud-based database services and ensure environments are properly configured, accessible, and aligned with application requirements.
- Security & Access Management: Assist with implementing appropriate access controls, permissions, and security practices within AWS environments.
- Backup & Recovery: Support backup, restoration, and business continuity processes to help protect critical applications and data.
- Automation: Utilize scripting and automation techniques to improve deployment, administration, and routine operational tasks.
- Application Support: Work alongside internal technical teams and external partners to support application deployments and integrations within AWS.
- Documentation: Maintain technical documentation covering infrastructure configurations, processes, procedures, and operational standards.
- Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities to improve cloud operations, reliability, automation, and overall system efficiency.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
- At least 1 year of hands-on experience working with AWS environments.
- Demonstrated experience working with AWS services and cloud infrastructure.
- Approximately 3+ years of experience working with technologies such as EC2, S3, RDS, IAM, or comparable AWS services.
- Working knowledge of databases and cloud-based database environments.
- Approximately 3+ years of scripting or automation experience using Python, Bash, PowerShell, or similar technologies.
- Foundational understanding of cloud infrastructure, security, networking, and system administration.
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting abilities.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to collaborate with both technical teams and external stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications
- AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Associate.
- AWS Certified SysOps Administrator – Associate.
- Equivalent AWS or cloud-related certification.
- Experience supporting database environments in AWS.
- Exposure to infrastructure automation or infrastructure-as-code practices.
- Interest in developing toward a broader cloud/database architecture role.

The successful candidate should be comfortable working hands-on, troubleshooting technical issues, learning new AWS technologies, and collaborating with teams across the organization.
