Job Description:
This fully remote, direct-hire CDI Specialist role is designed for an experienced inpatient CDI professional who excels in clinical documentation review, compliant physician query development, and accuracy-driven outcomes. The position plays a critical role in ensuring the medical record accurately reflects severity of illness, risk of mortality, and quality measures across complex inpatient populations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform concurrent and retrospective inpatient CDI reviews
- Create clear, compliant physician queries based on clinical documentation and regulatory standards
- Ensure documentation accurately reflects severity of illness (SOI) and risk of mortality (ROM)
- Apply ICD‑10‑CM/PCS, AHIMA, and ACDIS guidelines consistently
- Support accurate DRG assignment, CC/MCC capture, and quality metrics
- Collaborate with CDI, coding, and clinical teams to maintain documentation integrity
- Maintain high standards for quality, productivity, and written communication
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 3 years of inpatient CDI experience (U.S.-based only)
- Clinical background required (RN or MD)
- Required Certification: CDIP or CCDS
- Strong expertise in documentation review and physician query development
- Acute care bedside experience required (ER, Trauma, or multi‑specialty preferred)
- Exceptional attention to detail, grammar, and clinical accuracy
Additional Details:
- Role Type: Direct Hire, High‑Impact CDI Position
- Work Environment: 100% Remote (U.S. based)
- Training Schedule: Approximately 2 weeks, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM EST
- Post‑Training Schedule: Flexible between 7:00 AM – 4:30 PM EST
