About the Role
We are seeking a highly experienced and detail-oriented Senior Manager, SEC Reporting to lead financial reporting activities for a rapidly growing technology and financial services organization. This role will oversee SEC reporting, ensure compliance with US GAAP and SEC regulations, and support the continued development of the Controllership function.
The ideal candidate brings deep SEC reporting and technical accounting expertise, strong attention to detail, and the ability to collaborate effectively with executive leadership, legal, auditors, and cross-functional finance teams.
What You'll Do
SEC & Financial Reporting
- Lead the preparation and timely filing of SEC reports, including 10-Ks, 10-Qs, 8-Ks, proxy statements, and other required filings.
- Ensure financial reporting complies with US GAAP, SEC regulations, and XBRL requirements.
- Prepare and/or review supporting schedules for financial statements, footnotes, and MD&A.
- Prepare disclosure checklists, tie-out documentation, and other supporting materials for SEC filings.
- Maintain the financial reporting calendar and ensure deliverables are completed accurately and on schedule.
- Lead the review process with legal counsel, external auditors, and internal stakeholders.
- Manage the accounting, valuation, and financial disclosures related to stock-based compensation (ASC 718), including quarterly expense calculations, equity grant activity, diluted EPS, and related footnote disclosures.
- Identify opportunities to streamline reporting processes, simplify disclosures, and implement best practices.
- Help establish and maintain SOX-compliant internal controls over financial reporting.
- Assist with internal management reporting, investor reporting, and Audit Committee materials.
- Support regulator inquiries and information requests as needed.
- Analyze financial data to identify trends, anomalies, risks, and opportunities for improvement.
Leadership & Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partner closely with executive leadership, legal, investor relations, auditors, and finance teams to deliver accurate and timely reporting.
- Collaborate across functions to resolve complex accounting and reporting matters.
- Promote a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and operational excellence within the Controllership organization.
Technical Accounting & Strategic Projects
- Research and evaluate new accounting standards, SEC requirements, and other regulatory developments.
- Translate complex accounting guidance into practical business and reporting requirements.
- Provide technical accounting guidance to finance and cross-functional teams.
- Support ad hoc financial reporting initiatives and strategic projects as the organization continues to scale.
Must Haves
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Active CPA license required.
- 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, including 2–3+ years in a leadership or managerial capacity.
- Extensive SEC reporting experience, including ownership of 10-K and 10-Q filings.
- Proven public company financial reporting experience.
- Strong knowledge of US GAAP, SEC regulations, and financial reporting requirements, including Regulations S-X and S-K.
- Experience preparing and reviewing financial statements, footnotes, and MD&A disclosures.
- Workiva experience required.
- Strong experience with stock-based compensation accounting under ASC 718.
- Experience working cross-functionally with legal, external auditors, executive leadership, and finance teams.
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple deadlines and priorities.
- Ability to work independently and effectively in a fully remote environment.
- Ability to adhere to company security policies, data-handling procedures, and required security training.
- Ability to promptly identify and report potential security incidents or suspicious activity.
