NJ Based Property Management company is looking for a staff accountant to join a growing team.
Job Responsibilities:
- Maintain and update accounting records for the assigned areas
- Review and approve accounts payable timely and approve tenant refunds timely
- Transfer cash receipts and record bad debt recovery entries
- Download and distribute bank activities to relevant groups
- Work closely with the field team to timely resolve receivable and payable issues
- Analyze activity in capital expenditure accounts
- Apply for replacement reserve according to loan agreements
- Deposit checks, Prepare W-9s, prepare bank reconciliations, Update AR and AP aging, unapplied cash, bad debt allowance, fixed assets
- Follow month end closing calendar, update balance sheet, income statements and rent roll reports
- Prepare monthly centralized journal entries and supporting schedules for the assigned accounts
- Record journal entries under guidance from senior members on the team with help from senior members on the team, investigate and resolve issues through communication with operations, finance teams
- Follow quarter end closing calendar, assist in preparing quarterly financial reports and supplemental schedules, and prepare lender reports, and other required quarterly reports.
- Perform year end responsibilities and required work papers at year end for annual audits and tax filing
- Respond to auditor’s questions
- Complete ad hoc financial projects as required.
Requirements:
· Bachelor's degree, major in Accounting
· Proficiency in Excel required
· Salesforce and Yardi software experience a plus
· Problem solving and analytical skills.
· Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize multiple tasks.
· Strong work ethic focused on meeting deadlines.
