Addison Group is partnering with a large healthcare organization seeking an experienced Credentialing Specialist with a strong background in hospital privileging and primary source verification. This opportunity is ideal for someone with medical staff credentialing experience who enjoys reviewing complex provider applications, identifying discrepancies, and ensuring providers meet hospital credentialing requirements.
Job Description:
The Credentialing Specialist will support the credentialing, recredentialing, and hospital privileging process for physicians and other healthcare providers. This position requires hands-on experience processing hospital applications, completing primary source verifications, and ensuring provider files meet organizational and regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Process hospital credentialing and privileging applications for physicians and other healthcare providers.
- Review and process the Texas Standardized Credentialing Application and supporting documentation.
- Perform comprehensive primary source verifications (PSV).
- Verify provider education, employment history, board certifications, professional licenses, and DEA registrations.
- Review criminal background checks, sanctions, malpractice insurance, and peer references.
- Evaluate provider case logs and clinical experience to support hospital privileging decisions.
- Identify discrepancies, missing information, and potential red flags within credentialing files.
- Communicate with providers to obtain outstanding documentation and resolve application discrepancies.
- Maintain accurate provider information within credentialing databases.
- Track application progress and ensure credentialing files are completed within established deadlines.
- Support credentialing and privileging activities across hospitals, surgery centers, and other healthcare facilities.
Requirements:
- 3+ years of recent credentialing experience involving hospital privileging required.
- Strong experience with medical staff credentialing and primary source verification.
- Experience processing hospital credentialing applications, including the Texas Standardized Credentialing Application.
- Knowledge of provider privileging requirements for hospitals or surgical facilities.
- Experience verifying licenses, board certifications, education, employment, DEA, sanctions, malpractice coverage, and peer references.
- Ability to review provider case logs and identify credentialing discrepancies or red flags.
- Familiarity with credentialing and recredentialing regulations and compliance requirements.
- Strong attention to detail, organization, and investigative skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple provider files simultaneously.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- High School Diploma or GED required.
Additional Details:
- Hybrid schedule – alternating 1 week onsite and 1 week remote after training.
- First 3–4 weeks of training are 100% onsite.
- Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM.
- Onsite training includes hands-on shadowing with experienced team members.
- Must be adaptable to different training styles and credentialing workflows.
