About the Opportunity
Our client is seeking a hands-on Staff Accountant to support daily accounting operations within a small, collaborative team. Reporting to the Accounting Manager, this role supports accounts payable, accounts receivable, invoicing, cash activity, reconciliations, and month-end accounting.
This opportunity is best suited for someone seeking a stable, long-term individual contributor position who enjoys broad accounting responsibilities and established daily processes. The environment is largely manual, with some automation and regular onsite check preparation.
Key Responsibilities
- Process accounts payable, including reviewing invoices, preparing payments, reconciling vendor accounts, and resolving billing discrepancies.
- Prepare and issue onsite check payments and maintain supporting documentation.
- Support customer invoicing, including preparation, review, distribution, and resolution of billing issues.
- Assist with collections follow-up, customer account research, reconciliations, and past-due balances.
- Perform cash-handling and deposit activities, cash reconciliations, and coordination with banking and cash-handling vendors.
- Prepare general ledger account reconciliations and assist with month-end accounting, supporting schedules, and routine reporting.
- Use and maintain existing Excel workbooks and create new spreadsheets, Pivot Tables, and formula-based reconciliations as needed.
- Research and resolve day-to-day accounting discrepancies.
- Collaborate with accounting colleagues and sales personnel to address transaction and billing questions.
- Cross-train across accounting functions to maintain effective backup coverage.
- Learn payroll processes to potentially provide additional backup support to the HR Manager and Accounting Manager.
- Assist with other accounting and administrative duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- 3+ years of hands-on accounting experience across multiple accounting functions.
- Working knowledge of accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger reconciliations, and month-end accounting.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including creating and manipulating Pivot Tables, XLOOKUP/SUMIF, and formula-based reconciliations.
- Comfort working in a highly manual accounting environment, including preparing and issuing checks onsite.
- Eperience working in a small organization or small accounting team with shared responsibilities and a hands-on approach.
- Comfort working onsite five days per week in a combined warehouse and office environment.
