Position Overview
We are partnering with an established organization seeking a versatile Accounting Specialist / Bookkeeper to provide temporary support to its accounting team. This is a hands-on opportunity for an accounting professional who enjoys variety in their day-to-day responsibilities, from transactional accounting and bookkeeping to general ledger reconciliations, month-end close, and audit preparation.
The ideal candidate will have a well-rounded accounting background, strong attention to detail, and the ability to quickly step in and support multiple areas of the accounting function. This position will work closely with finance leadership and play an important role in maintaining accurate financial records and preparing for an upcoming audit.
Key Responsibilities
- Support daily accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, transaction coding, and general ledger maintenance.
- Prepare balance sheet and general ledger account reconciliations, researching and resolving discrepancies.
- Assist with month-end close activities, including journal entries, accruals, and supporting schedules.
- Support audit preparation by gathering documentation, organizing financial records, and preparing reconciliations.
- Review accounting transactions and records to ensure accuracy and completeness.
- Assist with bookkeeping, accounting cleanup, and process improvement initiatives.
- Collaborate with the CFO and accounting team to address priorities and maintain efficient accounting operations.
- Provide additional accounting and administrative support as needed.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in an Accounting Specialist, Accounting Assistant, Bookkeeper, or Staff Accountant role.
- Broad accounting experience encompassing transactional accounting, general ledger activities, and account reconciliations.
- Strong understanding of basic accounting principles, journal entries, and month-end close processes.
- Experience with accounts payable and accounts receivable processes.
- Previous experience supporting audit preparation or preparing audit schedules preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting/ERP systems.
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Self-motivated, adaptable, and comfortable working independently in a fast-paced environment.
