Job Description:
Our client is seeking an AP Accountant to join their team on a temp-to-perm basis. This position will be responsible for supporting full-cycle accounts payable functions along with additional accounting and administrative support in a collaborative environment. The ideal candidate will have strong attention to detail, solid communication skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining accuracy. Key responsibilities include:
- Managing the full cycle accounts payable process from invoice receipt through payment
- Reviewing invoices for accuracy, obtaining approvals, entering data into the accounting system, and processing payments
- Supporting weekly check runs and preparing ACH files for approval
- Reviewing and processing vendor and subcontractor invoices
- Recording credit card transactions and maintaining accurate supporting documentation
- Ensuring accounting records are complete, accurate, and audit-ready
- Analyzing expenditure trends and preparing reports for internal review
- Assisting with cost allocations and variance analysis in accordance with company policies
- Setting up projects and maintaining related records within the accounting system
- Supporting payroll processing activities including timesheet review, labor posting, and data imports
- Assisting with general accounting tasks including reconciliations, billing support, and month-end close activities as needed
Qualified candidates will have:
- 2+ years of accounts payable experience
- Strong attention to detail, organization, and follow-through
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Experience with Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office
- Knowledge of accounts payable, reconciliations, general ledger activity, billing, payroll support, and month-end close processes
- Understanding of GAAP
- Experience in a government contracting or regulated environment is preferred
- Experience with Unanet or QuickBooks is a strong plus
