Position Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented Accounts Payable Specialist for a contract engagement supporting a fast-paced accounting team. This role is responsible for managing AP processes accurately and efficiently while contributing to a collaborative, values-driven work environment. The ideal candidate brings strong technical AP knowledge, excellent communication skills, and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
Responsibilities
- Process and review vendor invoices for accuracy, proper coding, and approvals
- Manage vendor relationships and respond to payment inquiries in a timely and professional manner
- Ensure compliance with internal controls and accounting policies throughout all AP activity
- Identify and resolve payment discrepancies and process inefficiencies
- Support reconciliation activities and assist with reporting as needed
- Collaborate cross-functionally with internal teams to align on priorities and resolve AP-related issues
- Contribute to process improvement initiatives to increase accuracy and efficiency
- Perform additional AP duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Strong working knowledge of end-to-end accounts payable processes
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills including the ability to build and analyze complex spreadsheets
- Familiarity with GAAP and internal controls
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with vendors, staff, and leadership
- Detail-oriented with solid analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Experience with Workday Financial Management or comparable accounting software preferred
- Project management experience a plus
- Prior supervisory or team leadership experience a plus
