Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented Accounts Payable (AP) Clerk to join our finance team in Northwest Houston. This role is responsible for supporting the accounts payable process by reviewing and entering vendor invoices, maintaining accurate financial records, and assisting with timely payment processing. The ideal candidate has strong data entry skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced accounting environment.
Key Responsibilities
Invoice Processing
- Receive, review, and process vendor invoices for accuracy and completeness
- Code invoices to the appropriate general ledger accounts
- Enter invoice data into the accounting system in a timely manner
- Verify supporting documentation and ensure proper approvals are obtained
Vendor Support
- Respond to vendor inquiries regarding invoice status and payment timelines
- Maintain accurate vendor records and documentation
- Assist with reconciling vendor statements and resolving discrepancies
Payment Processing
- Assist with preparing and processing check runs, ACH payments, and wire transfers
- Ensure payments are processed according to company policies and payment terms
- Maintain organized records of payment activity and supporting documentation
Reconciliation & Reporting
- Assist with accounts payable reconciliations and reporting
- Support month-end close activities related to accounts payable
- Provide documentation for audits and internal reporting requests
Administrative Support
- Maintain organized electronic and physical financial records
- Support the accounting team with clerical and reporting tasks as needed
- Ensure compliance with company policies and internal controls
- Assist with identifying opportunities to improve AP processes and efficiency
Qualifications
- 1–3 years of accounts payable or accounting support experience preferred
- Experience with accounting or ERP systems preferred
- Strong Excel skills (data entry, basic formulas; pivot tables a plus)
- High attention to detail and strong organizational skills
- Strong communication and problem-solving abilities
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
