Senior Manager, Occupational Risk & Claims Strategy

A rapidly growing workforce solutions organization is seeking a seasoned Risk leader to oversee enterprise-wide occupational injury management, claims governance, and workplace safety alignment across a multi-state operation. This individual will play a critical role in shaping a modern risk infrastructure designed to support continued national expansion.

What You’ll Own

Enterprise Risk & Claims Leadership

  • Lead the strategy and execution of occupational injury and claims management initiatives across multiple jurisdictions
  • Develop scalable policies, governance standards, and operational procedures related to employee injury management and loss control
  • Partner closely with Safety, Operations, HR, Legal, and Finance teams to improve organizational risk performance
  • Serve as the primary escalation point for complex, litigated, or high-severity claims

Program Development & Optimization

  • Design and implement a centralized framework for claim oversight, vendor management, and reporting analytics
  • Evaluate and improve existing workflows, systems, and external partnerships to support long-term growth
  • Oversee reserve reviews, claim trends, and financial forecasting within both guaranteed-cost and loss-sensitive structures
  • Build KPI-driven scorecards for external administrators, brokers, and carrier partners

Safety & Prevention Alignment

  • Collaborate with workplace safety leadership to identify recurring injury patterns and improve prevention efforts
  • Translate claims data into actionable operational insights that reduce future incidents and overall exposure
  • Support enterprise compliance initiatives related to OSHA and multi-state workers’ compensation requirements

Reporting & Analytics

  • Create executive-level reporting dashboards focused on:
    • Claim trends
    • Loss development
    • Injury frequency/severity
    • Operational risk indicators
  • Use data analysis to identify emerging trends and recommend proactive mitigation strategies

Qualifications

Required Background

  • 7+ years of experience within Workers’ Compensation, Occupational Risk, Claims Administration, or Corporate Risk Management
  • Experience operating within high-volume, multi-site, or workforce-intensive environments
  • Strong knowledge of claims financials, reserving practices, and loss-sensitive program structures
  • Proven ability to influence cross-functional stakeholders and drive operational accountability
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience

Preferred Experience

  • Background in staffing, logistics, manufacturing, distribution, or other fast-paced labor environments
  • Experience implementing or optimizing claims/risk management systems
  • Professional designations such as ARM, CPCU, CSP, or related certifications
  • Familiarity with California Workers’ Compensation programs and complex jurisdictional requirements
